While I am not in favor of raising anyone's taxes, I believe the Speaker felt he had to do something to show that he was willing to compromise with the President.  Sadly, those who own  businesses will simply pass along those higher taxes to the rest of us by increasing prices, fees, etc.  Either way there will be more money coming out of all of our pockets in the future.
