Not sure how I feel about this one. It sounds wonderful. Who doesn't want a cure for Alzhiemers Disease and Autism? Who doesn't want to see those in our nursing homes restored to health after a stroke and to have the damage reversed? Of course, this is a lofty goal and we all would love to see it happen. But who really believes that at this point and time, we can afford to spend $100 million dollars next year on a "Brain Initiative." Does it really make sense to borrow $.48 cents of each of these dollars from the Chinese? Does it make sense to place such a debt on our children that their lives will be little more than working to pay off the debt we have incurred? What will it matter if they live much longer because of the research and development and have lost their country? Right now, our priority, in my opinion, should be to reduce the spending and start getting our country on sound fiscal footing, then we can look at the ideas of the "scientist in chief".
