This seems to be a confusing ruling and I have tried to review it from the newspaper and one friend – a constitutional lawyer. The court DID NOT say that gay marriage was legal. The SCOTUS said that the issue of marriage was a STATES issue, not a FEDERAL issue.
And the other case regarding Prop 8 has been sent back to California to be heard again.
The SCOTUS opinion on gay marriage is not clear or is not stated. It does feel that it be left up to the states.
Conservatives who believe in states rights should be thrilled.
And, my gay friends are too.
So, why isn’t everyone celebrating together ;-)?
