I don't think it impacts the race, but I do think it's sad that the NRCC is so sensitive to publicity. They knew he had ongoing marital problems, young children, a vindictive wife, etc. There were lots of reasons not to support him in the first place and to maybe weigh in on the side of a good candidate in the primary - Sheriff Nash, or Larry Grooms are both good Republican candidates with little or no baggage, but the Party wasn't interested in helping them at the point in the process where it could really make a difference.
Sad to say, our Party does not act like a party. A real political party finds candidates and helps them get elected. Instead, after candidates self-select, we leave them alone to battle it out in a primary where Democrats get to participate in the selection of our Republican candidate. Then we support the winner, until he stumbles (and lots of candidates stumble). When that happens, we abandon them without any way of selecting a replacement.
Politics is not rocket science. We could do so much better!
