The Obama administration's unwillingness to sit down and hammer out a reasonable plan with the Republicans is a crime against America. He continues campaigning, making himself seem like he is on our side against the "Republican establishment", when in reality it is he who is causing the problem. Whoever designed this strategy is brilliant, for it is working as much of America has bought into this, blaming the conservatives for all of our woes and giving Obama a high approval rating as the liberal press continues to avoid reporting the truth about the matter.
There are multiple ways to cut spending without touching important programs like defense, but this is Obama's way of pointing once again to those evil Republicans who are unwilling to raise taxes on the rich as if this would solve our problems! And so, he has created an atmosphere where he paints himself as a crusader, out to protect all of the downtrodden who have been robbed of success because of conservative agendas.
Obama has certainly succeeded in one area----dividing America.
