I have recently made that decision myself, and it wasn't even from being a "high-income" earner; it just made sense. You might as well call it a "marriage penalty" that is paid in the tax code, and until that is resolved, many of us will continue to make career choices liberals don't like. There is much more than just higher taxes that affect women, though, in the work place--it is cost of day care (which has increased dramatically over the last few years), which spouse takes the sick day hits with children, etc. Of course, the cost of gas, insurance, health care, groceries, utilities, etc., all are higher and we women who typically pay the bills and do the shopping, recognize those expenses. So, tax increases are just one area in which women are "most affected".
It is the married professional woman hardest hit in this case, and doubt the libs will mind. The married professional women voted Republican.
