Until last night, President Obama's 2008 Wisconsin win (by 13 points) led most strategists to skip over this heartland as a potential state in play. Today, with the "fall of the recall" the game has changed.
A new GOP "message" frontier for other states like Pennsylvania, Colorado, Ohio, and Nevada, each of which Obama won with a lesser margin then in Wisconsin becomes more attainable. Nevada and Ohio have key Senate races - races that the GOP can now clearly argue and advocate are winnable. In simple terms, a greater population is open to hearing and stepping behind the GOP's message. Frontal attacks on organized labor, like that led by Governor Walker's changes to state laws governing collective bargaining for public employees, seem less daunting.
