I do not know who conducts the White House tours, but I seriously doubt there has been any staff let go or cut backs at the White House. This is just another tug at the heartstrings of low information voters by the President.

I think this administration is picking very public things to "cut."   Conservatives are meant to look mean-spirited.   Spending that needs to be cut is sliding under the radar with these very public things that probably have little cost to them.

Given that the tours are given by volunteers I think this is ridiculous. It is nothing but politics. Trying to deny school children of getting to see the White House (the people's house) and say this is republicans fault. If he really wants to make a sacrifice he should give something that cost him something.
