The fiscal cliff wasn't averted, it was moved.  Both the Dems and GOP want some form of crisis available to make themselves seem more important than they are.

As a nation as well as in many states like Pennsylvania we are in such a financial mess I am really fearful about our economic future. Unless Republicans really hold firm and cut taxes and spending we are doomed for a financial mess that we may never recover from.

My gut reaction is that the SS tax should not have been lowered two years ago when the program is insolvent. We need to pay into the program to keep the program alive.
