I would say that the population is aging and moving to warmer winter climates.  That, and the lack of jobs and opportunity in some of those areas for the younger people makes relocating inviting and in some cases necessary.

I think the Cardinals made a great decision. The majority of hispanic people are catholic and also are a large percentage of the world population.  I think this was a bold move and shows that the Catholic church is listening to its followers. This is also the very first Pope from the America's.
