If President Obama is so sure that self-reliance is alive and well today in America, then why is he stating that we have a problem? He just addressed the two biggest problems that this country has...no job growth and no opportunities for those that desire to get ahead without government help.

People don't see as much opportunity. People don't see jobs. Obama refuses to see that his policies are the cause.

Ironic words, or just simply insincere, coming from a President whose policies keep people from looking for those opportunities or from acting upon those opportunities when they might be found.

I agree, folks are not seeing opportunities. You see, we are making it more and more difficult for folks to work.  We are putting mandates on employers that are making having an employee more of a liability than a benefit.  Many folks found great opportunities because of their exposure in menial jobs or internships or volunteering.   Opportunities rarely…

Funny that the president says he is for self-reliance when he seems to be doing everything in his power to hinder it.  If he cared, he would not have crippled the coal industry, and he would have jumped immediately on the pipe line, not to mention cut taxes on small businesses so they could expand…

Self-reliance is hampered greatly by the vast entitlement programs our government sponsors.  I do not believe self-reliance is alive and well among 55% of Americans.

President Obama lives in a different America than the rest of us.  I believe the President realized his recent SOTU comments about income inequality and acting unilaterally with his pen and his phone if Congress will not do his bidding are waking people up to the fact that his administration is leaning towards a Marxist…

There is not enough confidence for the job creators to feel that they can invest and survive the regulations and the cost of health care under President Obama.  Hence, Obama is right, people do not see the opportunities to get ahead.
