You must remember that the Southern Baptist Convention does not govern its churches.  Churches send messengers, not delegates.  Each messenger votes his or her own conscience.  Likewise, each Southern Baptist congregation governs itself.  There is no policy from a hierarchical church governing body.  We are in convention as a group of like-minded believers.
