The Virginia governor’s race will definitely be one to follow. AG Ken Cuccinelli is a staunch social and fiscal conservative, while Terry McAuliffe is a Clinton progressive. Cuccinelli will do well if he can deftly deflect attacks on his past comments on issues of same-sex marriage and abortion and keep focusing on the issues of job growth, low taxes, and fiscal conservatism. McAuliffe’s forays into green energy technologies reveal him to be an ideologue who will not have the best interests of the people and the economy of Virginia as his foremost concern. The voters will have to choose between two almost diametrically opposed candidates. It should be interesting, and may well be a precursor to what we will see in the 2016 elections.
