Governor Perry's decision opens the door for another presidential run in 2016. If this is his goal, it seems to be another run that ends in failure. Even at this early stage, those mentioned as possible candidates like NJ Governor Chris Christie, Senators Marco Rubio and Rand Paul represent a much stronger field that the choices we had in 2012 and against such, how can Perry expect to fare any better than he did then?
I hope the Texas Governor just wants more time to spend with his family or to run a foundation or think tank and, finally, perhaps to write his memoirs, but history shows that once bitten by the presidential bug, it's almost always incurable.
