I believe this was a good decision. When the Voting Rights Act of 1965 was passed it was never intended to be a law in perpetuity.  At the time it was necessary because there was widespread systematic discrimination based on skin color in several states in the south, but this is no longer an issue.  Voting requirements are a 10th Amendment states rights issue and all states will once again have equal standing, which is a big win for the states.  A lot of precedent has been washed away by this decision, bringing us beyond the tragic era of racial segregation and discrimination.  Besides, anything coming out of the SCOTUS that disappoints Attorney General Eric Holder must be a good thing, right?
