I well remember world war 11, as I had 4 uncles overseas.  One in Italy, the others I am not sure where. We had black out curtains, Ration stamps, (sugar, tires, gas, meat, shoes, are some of the things  rationed.)  We lived about 50 miles from the Pacific Ocean so we were on
airplane watch, as there had been bombing at Pearl Harbor and the threat of invasion on the west coast.  Our family had a short wave radio so were able to keep up with news of the war. I would have been about 6 or 7 years old. We still watch over the graves of the military.
