Preparation for events, in general, is a good thing.  Schools have fire drills in preparation  for a fire.  We are periodically reminded by the Federal Government to have a family emergency plan.
During the Cold War with Russia school children in America had "duck an cover" drills to help prepare them in the event of a nuclear bomb.  While I have only heard a few accounts of those days, it is clear to me that those were frightening and traumatic given the world events at that time.
Given the common 24-7 coverage of many of the horrific events which have occurred during the past few years can be traumatizing even to the average adult -children are even more vulnerable with less capacity to understand.
It is beyond my understanding as to why any school official or professional would have condoned this particular action taken by this school and it is clear to me that they have no business working with children.
Having said that, there should be a way to prepare our children for the realities of our world without causing trauma which can lead to acute stress disorder and possibly Post Traumatic Stress Disorder - which can cause future problems down the road, including time in a therapist's chair.
