Our entire foreign policy position is unclear at this point. We do not know what happened in Benghazi to this day, and the administration is not forthcoming with the truth. What was reported to be an Arab Spring and a movement towards freedom and democracy in the Middle East has proven to be takeovers by radical Islamists bent on instituting governments based on Islamic shari’ah. I worry about the young people who thought they were fighting for freedom and have now become more oppressed than they were under the dictatorships they helped to overthrow. Some reports say chemical weapons have already been used in Syria, some say there is no proof of this. I do not believe President Obama will do anything without the approval of the United Nations. He is leading from behind on most foreign policy issues. With his appointments of Chuck Hagel as Secretary of Defense and John Kerry as Secretary of State, I do not think we have a strong foreign policy of any kind just when we need to be recognized as the most powerful nation in the world. They have demoralized our military with their policies of appeasement and lack of commitment to funding to keep our forces strong. For the first time in my life I do not feel safe or that our leaders are concerned with our safety and protection.
