I am saddened by the fact that the public, including the political leadership of Pennsylvania, did not challenge Penn State years back. This 'problem' was old news that just didn't have enough support to bring it to the place that caused enough action to fire a long standing coach and others. The NCAA has the responsibility to bring about fines and penalties. I am not knowledgeable about the intricate workings of the NCAA but do understand some of what they are about. This stand by the Governor is what I would call 'too much..too late'. The real efforts should have been years back. These Athletic Directors have a great deal of power over the Institutions that they are heading and what this all amounts to was the overlooking of an abuse of power. I am sorry for the students...some of which should have taken a stand even though it might have darkened their athletic futures. Unfortunately this is far from being over and I am sorry that reprimands were not heeded in the past. Just my thoughts....fines should stand...but maybe let the games go on?
