After the horrific tragedy in Connecticut the Democrats will for sure begin a dialogue to repeal or alter the second amendment. This will not stop the violence. People who are determined to commit a horrible crime will find a way to buy guns on the "black market", this would be even more dangerous to law abiding citizens.
It is not guns who kill people but the people who shoot them! I personally think we need to look at the violence in our society. There are so many violent video games that almost glorify violence for violence sake that young people look at today. There is so much violence today on TV and in movies and in music that show killing as a way of life! I think we need to question some of this unnecessary violence and parents need to continue to teach their children right from wrong ways to behave. Unfortunately I think we need to consider having armed security guards in public locations, even elementary schools. A security guard might not have been able to totally prevent some of the killings in Connecticut but a guard could have made a difference in the numbers of innocent people and children killed. We also need to find a better way to treat people who have emotional problems and start to recognize it at an early age. Many mental illnesses can be helped with proper care and guidance!
I fear for our country if we do not stop this violence. Repealing the Second Amendment is not the way to stop it.
