This huge debt does worry me. With few of us understanding how interest can eat up the taxes we pay to the government, there is little movement to take the debt crisis as a crisis.  We are dealing with numbers that are beyond our minds ability to grasp and so the average citizen ignores it as too much to deal with.  Putting it out of mind and accepting the distractions does not remove the problem.  We are being distracted by an overwhelming variety of problems and so it is a feeling of helplessness.  This leads to inaction.  There is pressure to make a living and be financially safe.  Hence, the citizens as a whole are not able to grasp that we need  action to get the debt under control.  It is actually a political ploy to make us all numb and it is working.  The numbers are so high we cannot cope.
