Not having read the book, I don’t have any first-hand information.  The question to me is, is it appropriate for a member of a cabinet to “go public” with information while a president is still in office.  No matter what one’s personal view is, I believe respect for the office and for privileged information should not be used against a sitting president. After the president has completed his term, that is a different story.  I do not believe what Mr. Gates is currently doing is correct or profitable for our country.
