Renee WoodberryMarine Corps basic fitness training has the reputation of being the toughest and most strenuous of all the services. All applicants, male and female, are required to pass an initial physical fitness test and are fully aware of the guidelines of the mandatory Semi-Annual Physical Fitness Test (PFT).  Female marines know the expectations of being physically fit, regardless of age, grade, or duty assignment. Regardless of gender, the Marine Corps MUST maintain the highest level of physical fitness for every Marine.  Lowering the standards for females to successfully pass the PFT is unacceptable, as such leniency can be a detriment to the readiness and combat efficiency of their unit. I am an avid supporter for females serving in the military, and I am a strong advocate for keeping the existing fitness training guidelines.  America cannot lower expectations for our military servants based on gender.  American military servants, male and female, must remain the strongest and toughest in the world.  AMERICA CANNOT LOWER THE BAR!
