It is a sad reflection on today’s society that this needs to be addressed at all.  Professional athletes of the past understood they were role models for their young fans and while not always perfect in their private lives behaved themselves on the field or court.  The actions of today’s athletes reflect the deterioration of our  culture and civility.  It appears these penalties will be imposed from what I have read.  It will be interesting to see if they are meted out fairly.  If a racial slur such as the ‘n’ word is used, the player who uttered it should be subject to the penalty no matter whether he is black or white.  Fair is fair, the rules are the rules and they should apply to all equally.  This would apply to all racial slurs and the NFL better be specific as to what will be considered a racial slur or epithet so everyone knows exactly what words will be subject to the penalty.
