I watched the Super Bowl last night, but unless one of MY teams plays I really only watch for the commercials and half-time show. It was probably the most boring Super Bowl I have ever watched. I was not impressed with the ads and although I like Bruno Mars and The Red Hot Chili Peppers, the half time show was boring, too. One thing they kept talking about in the pre-game hype were the dangers of playing football with concussions and other injuries. These athletes choose to play and they understand the risks. The rewards outweigh the risks for most of them. Our society has become so emasculated out of fear of injury or pain. I am glad we still have men and women who choose to join the military or become police officers, firefighters, coal miners, along with so many other professions where danger of injury or death are present every day, and the reward is meager compared to the salaries of these NFL players.
