As Palladian View Founder Karen Floyd says frequently, "A rising tide floats all boats."
It is sad and telling on the NAACP that, rather than celebrating Senator Tim Scott's inspiring success story, they have to insult him personally in such a vulgar way; that rather than highlighting how they as an organization have helped lift people out of poverty, they criticize someone who has worked hard to lift himself out of poverty through the help and inspiration of his mother and employer as mentors.
NC NAACP Head Rev. Barber's comments show that the NAACP's leadership needs to change its name to the "NAADCP" - the National Association for the Advancement of Democrat Colored People," since they cannot tolerate anyone who advances in a way that they do not approve of, who thinks in a way that they do not approve of, or quite obviously, who identifies with a political party that they do not approve of.
It is an insecure organization that cannot respectfully and professionally promote its own beliefs with facts and research and sincerity in what it stands for; but instead, just denigrates and criticizes others. How does that help anyone? A life lesson for us all is "a rising tide floats all boats".
