I agree with President Bush. Our military fought hard in Afghanistan after 911 and so many paid the price for protecting America. Our troops and other coalition troops bushed out the taliban and brought a sense of new freedom to the people of Afghanistan. Women and young girls especially had the opportunity to go to school, pursue a career and take pride in themselves and their accomplishments.
We should not let it go back. It is unfortunate that our current administration did not think it was necessary to protect the freedom our troops created for Afghanistan. Without some presence of American or coalition forces more of the taliban has returned and so has the fear, lack of freedom and enslavement especially for women who have lost the opportunity to achieve all they hoped for. No one wants a conflict, but it is important that America cultivates allies in the Middle East. We walked away from a potential ally. Our troops who paid the ultimate sacrifice did so because they cared about their mission. Their families must now wonder why this is no longer important.
