Just imagine - we are the opposition and just suppose we raise a great deal of money with which to oppose the regime by killing babies. Would the Democrats not tell everyone, but everyone, but everyone what we were doing?

OK, you say, easy for them, they have the media!  Why is that?  Are there no rich Republicans? Why haven't Republicans bought newspapers and TV stations? I can tell you why. Such ventures are not only financially risky, they are socially, legally, and politically risky. But most important, they are economically risky. Republicans consider politics to be less important than economics. Here's a real life true story and while it is not about a Republican, it is about someone who put economics ahead of politics. It's a story about a really good friend and ally in all my political endeavors, whether I was running for office, putting out a newsletter, starting a nonprofit, whatever i was trying to do, he helped. This story is not meant to criticize a friend, only to illustrate a mindset that we have got to find some way to overcome.

Robert and I were having a drink with a friend of beloved memory, since passed away, and we were taking a break from our conversation to watch the news. By the way, our friend was a media mogul and part owner of the Falcons. He did not consider himself a Republican or a Democrat, but he definitely did not like liberalism. As we watched, he began railing against the news anchor and the liberal spin he was putting on the news. So Rob said, "Why don't you fire him and hire Christina. She would love that job, wouldn't you dear?"  Before I could answer, a quick reply was delivered with emphasis.  "Are you kidding? She'd get us thrown off the air and everyone would lose their jobs. It's just not that easy."

I don't blame my friend, most Republicans would not risk their business, even if they could afford to do so, for politics. But liberals are more committed than we are. Consider also the fact that this was when the Republican Party controlled the Presidency, the Senate and the House. Unfortunately, control of the media is desired by both parties and neither is about to dismantle the apparatus that has become the Federal Communications Commission. Shortly after this our friend sold all his media holdings and set up a Foundation. It gives many scholarships and funds historical research. But what if he had kept a few of hisTV stations in key states?

Or what about the Churches?  Killing the unborn is a high crime against the Creator!  I just finished reading the new biography of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, the famous German theologian implicated  in the plot to assassinate Hitler.  Bonhoeffer is very understanding of the tragic reasons that sometimes force women to commit murder in this way, but insists that no matter the circumstances, it is still murder. Don't all Christians believe this?  If not, shouldn't they?

The author of the Bonhoeffer biography, Eric Metaxas, was the keynote speaker at the 2012 National Prayer Breakfast. He handed the President a copy of his book before giving a talk that condemned abortion and compared it with the Holocaust. Why hasn't the cry of the Churches informed every churchgoer?  This charge has been leveled against the Church in Nazi Germany, but the murder of Jews was hidden for a long time - everyone knows about abortion. How many of the pro-lifers who do not know about Planned Parenthood of America's (PPA's) systematic murder of unborn babies with taxpayer money (yes, the money is given for other purposes, but it helps to fund the death machine that is PPA), are in fact church goers? Most, I'll bet. How could they not have heard about the evil in our midst that is PPA?

I will answer that question as well. The Churches are timid and at bottom as economically motivated as Republicans. Pastors fear that controversial topics may annoy some of the people in the pews and those people may leave and go to other churches. This is very, very sad. But abortion should not be controversial to a Christian - it should be just plain wrong!
