Great idea, but hope it is part of a greater safety plan for schools. To paraphrase our Vice President: "If it might one day in the distant future save one person, then it is worth it. I have to wonder, however, in this era of fiscal "extravagance," how much will this brilliant idea cost?
Additionally, I do have a few questions:
Does every student get a whiteboard? If so are they expected to carry it on their person at all times, including bathroom breaks? And what if a student has a broken arm? Do they carry books, or a white board?
Do teachers get their own or do they have to share it and if so how many students can be accommodated when using the whiteboard?
Do we have to call them "white" boards? In this era of nonsensical hypersensitive political correctness, I think that schools should consider changing the name (maybe to "person boards?") so that no one is offended.
Since we all know that "protecting" the environment is more important than common sense--are the boards recyclable?
If Congress had included mandatory use of these whiteboards along with New York's previous 7 round magazine limit ( which they just changed back to 10 rounds), we would all be more safe!! All in all, it does sound not only impractical, nonsensical but also very expensive, and will not do much of anything to protect students and teachers. Just some of my thoughts....
