We cannot address the illegal immigration policy without addressing border security and enforcement first.  Then I do believe we have to address the issue of the people and children already here.  There should not be any special advantages and they should not be allowed to jump in line ahead of people who have been trying to come into the country legally.  Perhaps they could be issued green cards so that they could work and pay taxes into the system just like everyone else.  I would make sure they have to pass strict guidelines to become citizens and anyone who has any kind of criminal conviction would have to be deported immediately.  Once a system is rolled out and implemented, perhaps after a year or two, if someone is found here who does not have the proper identification they should immediately be deported.  That would mean either that: 1) They refused to obey the new laws or 2) they have somehow come in illegally.  Either way, they should not be permitted to stay.  Also, I would like to see a long period of time before they could apply for citizenship, maybe 10 years at the very least.  This way, they could not be used for political purposes, and they would not be voters for a long time.
