It's obvious that something has to be done about our broken immigration system and this at least gets the ball rolling. The fact that it is a bipartisan solution is sure to raise hackles among some quarters because neither side will get everything they want.
As Brit Hume said yesterday, the GOP can't be seen as being dragged, kicking and screaming to the negotiating table or the Hispanic community will continue to view the Republican Party through the lens of immigration...even though polls show that immigration is not their number one issue! We have the opportunity to move forward in a positive way on this complicated issue but we need to hear details of any solution posed by those who object to parts of the proposed plan. Just yelling "Deport them all!" is no answer.
