Currently, the perception among Republican activists is that Mark Sanford is leading the pack of candidates running to replace Tim Scott. One assumes that women are polled as well as men. A Public Policy Polling (PPP) survey released last month, showed 53% of South Carolina voters had a negative opinion of Sanford compared to just 30% who viewed him favorably.  Among Republicans, Sanford scores a 44% unfavorability rating compared to 39% who view him favorably.

It seems that both women and men have some misgivings about Sanford and more than a few women are conflicted over his moral failings when held up against his fiscally sound policies. I suspect, given the times, the fiscally sound policies and the tenacity to pursue them, will triumph.
