The fiscal cliff vote was a disaster as the House lost all its power, which shifted to the Senate and the President. No progress was made in reducing the deficit and no attempt to curb outrageous spending. The Senate had 3 minutes from receipt of the 157 page bill to vote on it, which they did and passed it. They obviously did not know everything that was in this bill. President Obama got exactly what he wanted and promised he would do. He accomplished an increase of taxes on the top 2% of income earners and his class warfare will continue as he has been emboldened by this success.
In the next 2 months the House must unite to propose a bill supported unanimously by all of the Republicans to rein in spending and seriously address government waste. Sequestration would be a disaster as across the board cuts for all federal agencies would become effective unless Congress agrees to cut $1.2 Trillion dollars from the budget over the next 10 years. If it goes down to the last second once more, they will have lost the support of the more conservative representatives within the House and also the American people. The House should also present a bill to repeal Obamacare and a bill for a balanced budget amendment.
