There has been a division within the Republican Party which was apparent in the vote today to retain Rep. John Boehner as Speaker of the House.  It is time to come together and focus on the power of the House under Article 1, Section 7, which states “All bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives.”

I hope that the support of the members of the House will strengthen Speaker Boehner’s resolve to do the job that they are supposed to do…to control the spending of our tax dollars within a defined budget (which the Senate must pass this year) and work towards reducing the deficit and preventing sequestration.

It should also be remembered that the House has the sole power of impeachment under Article 1, Section 2 of the Constitution.
