Congress missed a good opportunity to actually deal with the looming financial crisis that this country is facing. I would presume that some in Congress are congratulating themselves for giving some Americans a tax cut since the vote was on Tuesday, when the reality is that increases are in store for most Americans, yet there is little or no spending cuts. It is a spending and borrowing problem, not a revenue problem. Working families across this country are cutting back as they realize that consumer cost, taxes and fees are taking more of their income, it is time that government do the same thing.
It is especially disappointing that Republicans who tout fiscal conservatism would once again, allow tax increases before spending cuts. If they continue to go along with Democrats, then what is the difference between the two parties?
