There is no "one anecdote" to solving this problem. There are many factors, but the one that agitated me the most was the painting of Republicans as "the mean people who want to take away your access to birth control". This was followed by a notion that single female voters made their decisions based solely on that ludicrous notion.
Single females like everyone else in this country want a strong, safe, and prosperous country and economy.
We need to focus on real-life everyday issues and stop getting sucked into birth control fights. Gov. Jindal just stated this recently.
Furthermore, we need to understand how to answer the pro-life questions appropriately and stop getting rope-a-doped into answering questions about rape and incest. The answer is that obviously Republicans are not pro-rape, and that less than 1% of abortions are products of rape.
Republicans lost the single women's votes due to "perception politics" re: dumb/clumsy rape and birth control comments. Young female voters have to be smarter than to let our votes be defined by such trivial things. Our brains are not in our wombs, they are in our heads.
