There are simply no words appropriate to describe the tragedy that the families in Connecticut will be feeling this holiday season. As I research school shootings, I find that they are rarely impulsive acts, rather, they are typically thought-out and planned out in advance. In addition, prior to most shootings other children knew the shooting was to occur but did not alert an adult. How can we take knowledge such as this and use it to prevent tragedy such as the one we are experiencing in Connecticut? My heart just breaks when I think at the pain that the families are facing today and in days to come. I will pray for them.
