We are continually praying for the citizens of Newtown, Connecticut that God will wrap his arms around this community and soothe their pain and heartache. This is a profound tragedy and all of us, especially those in the teaching profession, mourn with them. As an early childhood educator, I know first-hand how seriously teachers take their jobs and how aware we are of the precious gifts we are given in the children entrusted to our care. The teachers and staff at Sandy Hook Elementary should be commended for their bravery and nurturing. During this holiday season, when so many families are struggling, we owe it to them, to the Newtown families and the memories of their loved ones to look for the good in humankind and shout it from the rooftops so that evil will not prevail! We wish every family touched by tragedy this past year God's peace, solace and strength. We say a heartfelt thank you to all of our "first responders"- teacher, fireman, EMT, police officer, military, or passerby. We are a blessed nation with so many willing to give and sacrifice for the good of all and we wish everyone a blessed holiday season, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
